What let me unexpected is, besides doing a good job of anaesthetizing, I have also served as " midwife " Role. That to reach Zambia just. At midnight, a pregnant woman having difficult labour is sent to the operating room. At home, produce the operation to generally want 5- 6 people while making and cutting open the palace, including operator and doctor, assistant, anaesthetist, apparatus nurse, circuit nurse, midwife. The doctor takes out to find after the baby the neonate suffocates in the palace, the cyanosis of lip, heartbeat are faint, breathe and stop. Child's life hangs area, rescue very urgently. Because there is not a surplus person at one's side, I suck the phlegm for children with the aspirator immediately while busy anaesthetizinging, and offer trachea intubates, oxygen intake,etc.. Gradually, the child's heartbeat, breath resumes, the skin has blood color. I wipe clean bloodstain and amniotic fluid on one's body for the neonate, am wrapped him up with the small bag. This little life can revive. Hereafter, so long as made and cut open the palace and produced the operation, I became " midwife " . At a windy and rainy night, a belly very large lying-in woman is sent to the operating room. Because the locality checks before production have not popularized, doctors do not understand the situation of the pregnant woman. I suspect she is much afterbirth fetus, while anaesthetizing extremely carefully. Open the uterus, the doctor takes out sees after a baby that there are two children in the uterus, then take them out in succession. 3 children's situation is not good, I rescue one by one, make them break away from the dangerous situation gradually. When stay 3 neonates cry, I have already been so tired as to sat and can not stand up on the chair. The ones that let me unexpected are, have more dangerous situations! Will it be will it be over 10 o'clock night one day, one lying-in woman of edema send to into operating room all over. I see lying-in woman is in a coma, twitches all over, the tongue has already been broken by the teeth, it is the blood in one's mouth. I take lying-in woman's blood pressure, unexpectedly is up to 220/140mmHg. The lying-in woman suffers from pregnant hypertension, and presented terrible eclampsia, the situation is very serious, the mother and son life hangs by a hair. I make trachea intubate for the lying-in woman immediately. Critical because of the condition, the trachea intubate is difficult to enter. I try every means to insert into the tube at long last, it is her oxygen intake very urgently again, use medicines such as calm, stepping down, diuresis,etc.. Gradually, the patient twitches and stops, blood pressure drops. We give her make cut open palace, produce the operation timely, the mother and son escape death by a hair's breadth finally. After the operation, everybody is very glad, they say: "Patient can rescue eclampsia successfully, it is really too amazing! " In two years in Zambia, I seldom have a rest on festivals or holidays, all busy under the shadowless lamp. Once, my continuous job is about to come off duty in nearly 20 hours, meeting a AIDS person should cut open the palace and produce the operation. I anaesthetize for her. Carelessly, the syringe that the patient has used pitches broken my finger. At that time, I was muddled quickly. The nurse registers for me, the physician writes a prescription and makes the leave request for me, I am absent-minded, wonder how oneself got back to the guard station. With the increasing of the work load, I am so gradual as to get used to, there is not a large thought pressure. To aid medical work enables me never forget in the whole life outside two year. We use consummate medical skill and sincere love, make local people have further understanding on China, have gained loving and commendation of the people of recipient country. We doctors have become peaceful envoys.
